To know Wikk!d, you should first know his background. Before he was even born, music was in his veins (just ask his mother!), so it was only natural for him to be destined for a life surrounded by music. Well into adulthood he played several brass instruments in school bands. He was bit by the techno bug at age 16, but even before that he could be heard listening to 80s pre-techno era music.
Fast forward to 1997, DJing became an interest after attending a series of local Eugene, OR raves and befriending several DJs. Frustrated that he was unable to afford a set of his own turntables, and a mixer he devised a plan to make use of what was already available to him. He managed to obtain an old belt-driven turntable from his father, a CD player he owned, and an old Radio Shack mixer. It was with this equipment that he taught himself to beatmatch. Production was also an interest to him during this time and he found himself regularly re-mixing popular commercial and underground tunes at the time.
Time passed, and he found himself DJing at local high and middle school dances, top 40 music at the time. Still not satisfied because his interest was in techno music, he began teaming up with local techno DJs. He eventually teamed up with DJ Jade (now known as Jade Bassix) in 2000 to form the drum and bass tag team duo, Jade and Wikk!d. During this time, he also founded the Northwest USA's online rave community, Kandieland.com, which was a platform for local DJs, Producers, Promoters, and Party Goers to reach out to each other, and most importantly to get their music heard.
Today, he continues to flex his production skills and is a strong asset for So Broken Recordings. His production skills haveprovided the label with trip hop, liquid funk, and atmospheric drum and bass tunes. The first of which will be released on the label in 2006.
